TRAVEL: Croatia

CroatiaTrg. sv Stjepana (Main Square) in Hvar, Croatia

It’s been a while but I’m back; from both my wedding and a long vacation so I’ll get right to it. My wife (still sounds a little weird) and I spent two incredible weeks exploring the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia where I had quite a few opportunities to work on my craft. Croatia is, and has always been, a very intriguing location for me. It’s an obvious choice by location as its right across the Adriatic from Italy, has more than 1,000 islands, and has mostly uninterrupted sunny cloudless summer weather but also because it’s recent tumultuous history of breaking away from former Yugoslavia gives it a cultural edge that makes most Western travelers unnecessarily wary about traveling there. Medieval fortified cities, ancient fishing villages, deserted forested islands, and miles of rocky beaches with crystal clear waters were all on the itinerary as we spent time in not only southern Croatia but also briefly in the neighboring countries of Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Least to say I have quite a few photographs to share so what I’ve decided to do is to break up my pictures into several posts where I’ll dedicate each post to a location from the trip. I’ll give a background to each location and, of course, provide my favorite photographs from the area. Hopefully they will inspire you to not only visit Croatia, but also to come back to the blog.

In another week or so I will finalize a Croatia gallery which you all can look through at any time. Also, in the next month or so l plan to take a stab at my first e-book where I will attempt to capture the essence and atmosphere of what Croatia was for me photographically. In the mean time you get only these two photos.
